Challenging the Mayor
Since the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, first announced the expansion of ULEZ to the outer boroughs, Munira has repeatedly called on him both to delay the roll-out during the cost of living crisis and to expand the scrappage scheme.
Over the past eight months, Munira has written to the Mayor on several occasions on behalf of her constituents. Read her latest letter below.

This follows Munira’s first letter to the Mayor, written immediately after the announcement was made, which you can read in full here. You may be interested to read the response we received from Shirley Rodrigues, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy, here.
In Parliament
To represent concerned local people and the Liberal Democrat approach to ULEZ in Parliament, Munira tabled an Early Day Motion in June calling for delay and an extension of the scrappage scheme to all Londoners with non-compliant cars.
“That this House recognises the importance of action to reduce harmful air pollution and traffic emissions in London; yet notes with concern both the way and speed with which the expansion of the Ultra Low Emissions Zone to outer London has been handled by the Mayor of London…”
In a debate, Munira called on Conservative MPs in London to add their names to the Motion, proving their stance on ULEZ was not purely party political. Watch her intervention below.
This follows Munira’s Written Questions to the Conservative government on their decision not to fund scrappage for Greater London and neighbouring counties, despite doing so in other cities. Read the Minister’s response here.
In the Media
Munira has spoken on ULEZ on several occasions since the expansion was announced, including on ITV’s The Late Debate, the BBC’s Question Time, as well as BBC Radio London and BBC News.

For those concerned that their car or van may not be ULEZ-compliant, Munira strongly urges drivers to double-check their status using TfL’s number plate tool: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/
