Today in the House of Commons, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock MP announced a new White Paper that will result in profound changes to the provision of health care in the UK.

However, Hancock has failed to lay out a substantial plan for social care, in spite of consistent calls for reform. In Parliament, Munira asked when the government would fulfil promises made and deliver for social care.

Following the statement, Munira said:

“Even before the pandemic, social care was misunderstood and underfunded. Now in the wake of Coronavirus, it’s more important than ever that social care is no longer overlooked.

The government must act on years of promises and give social care the reform and support it deserves.”
