Munira today pressed the Minister to ensure overseas aid reaches those who need it most. This follows Government plans to significantly cut Official Development Assistance, which will have a hard-hitting impact on those suffering extreme levels of poverty.

After the question, Munira said:

“The Chancellor’s decision to slash the UK’s aid budget to the world’s poorest is deplorable. As one of the richest nations in the world, we must do all we can to help those most in need.

Cuts will have a significant impact on environmental protection as well as people’s access to education and food in developing countries. Worse, cuts in aid could potentially cost lives. The Government must ensure aid is provided to the communities and individuals who need it the most.”
