During Prime Minister’s Question Time on 9 November, Munira called on Rishi Sunak to give “a cast-iron guarantee” that there would be no real-terms cuts to school and college budgets in his Autumn Statement next week.

Her PMQ comes as many headteachers and school leaders in Twickenham and across the country face shrinking budgets and impossible decisions in order to keep the lights on during lessons.

Speaking after PMQs, Munira said: “The Prime Minister claims our children’s education is a priority for his government, so today I asked him for a very simple guarantee: that there will be no real-terms budget cuts for schools and colleagues in the Autumn Statement next week.

“With headteachers scrapping plans for mental health support, axing school trips and avoiding filling staff vacancies, the lack of a simple YES from the Prime Minister was deafening.”
