On Monday 13 March, Munira set out why Liberal Democrats see childcare as a vital part of our economic infrastructure on LBC.

Investing in early years is vital for children, parents and the economy. Rumours are swirling about what the Chancellor will announce in Wednesday’s Budget on childcare policy. While paying the childcare fees of Universal Credit claimants upfront is welcome news, relaxing staff-to-child ratios will make children less safe and won’t bring costs down.

Munira told LBC that childcare is as “critical for our economy as roads and railways,” and that it must “be front and centre of the plan” to achieve economic growth.
