Munira & Michael

Munira and her fiancé met campaigning at the Leicester South by-election in July 2004! They are getting married in November

Munira is a true Londoner.  Born and brought up in London, she has lived here almost all her life.  South West London is her home, where she is a local councillor. 

Munira works for a leading children’s charity, campaigning in Parliament on issues such as child poverty, asylum and refugee children’s rights and welfare, as well as education issues in the UK.

Having started her career in the City training as a Tax Consultant with one of the “Big Four” accountancy firms, Ernst & Young, Munira then moved into political campaigning and lobbying. 

She has worked as Researcher to Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary Nick Clegg MP, as well as Campaigns Organiser for former MP Sue Doughty.  Munira also spent a brief spell lobbying on gender equality issues for the Equal Opportunities Commission.

Munira with her proud mumWith her proud mum – Munira was the first in her family to go to either Oxford or Cambridge.  Munira graduated from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge with a degree in French, German and Linguistics
After gaining her degree in Modern Languages, Munira worked for the investment bank Goldman Sachs International to fund her voluntary work and travels in India during her gap year. 

In her limited spare time, Munira loves cooking and entertaining, spending time with family and friends, and enjoys a good dance!
